Casandra Slade has lived in Lindenhurst with her husband James for 16 years. She appreciates her caring neighbors, the tranquil scenery and quality schools. It is here that she raised her two teenagers.
Casandra received her Master’s from Marian College and Bachelor’s in Economics from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and currently works at Wintrust Financial Corporation, where she manages initiatives relating to Community Development and the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program. Casandra has established a very successful and nationally recognized lending program – the "Small Dollar Loan" - which lends small amounts of money to lower income borrowers to counteract the plethora of payday lending. Casandra has presented, served as a panelist, and conducted webinars for a variety of concerns on a national level.
She also has a very strong sense of community involvement. Casandra was named a Woman of Achievement by the YWCA Lake County. Her board responsibilities include an elected school board member of Millburn District 24, the North Chicago Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Lake County Healthcare Foundation. Casandra was a co-founder of Housing Resources Inc. a Neighborhood Housing Services affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served as Executive Director of the Affordable Housing Corporation of Lake County prior to joining the former National City Bank (now PNC Bank) as CRA Officer. Casandra is passionate about changing the lives and futures of lower income households.
Casandra has been referred to as what is known as a five-tool star in baseball's major leagues: an effective speaker and presenter; a community development specialist; a financial and fiscal responsibility advocate; a locally concerned, results-oriented role model for young women; and an energized, grass-roots focused Board presence.
With her passion to serve, experience and strong work ethic, she will make a real difference as Lindenhurst Village Trustee.
